This is work and an installation shot from my one-person exhibition Alpestrine that was presented by Linda Warren Gallery, Chicago. These large-scale chalk, charcoal, gesso on prepared raw canvases were based on drawings and sketches done while on the island of Samos, Greece. The titled comes from a biological term that pertains to plants or diseases that only grow at high altitudes. I found they spoke on some level as decapitated mountaintops. I received an Illinois Arts Council Artist Fellowship Award during this exhibition.
